Give your loved one the send off that they deserve with our New Orleans Funeral Brass Band. Having a band at a funeral isn’t just for the New Orleans traditionalist, it’s becoming a more popular choice for many families as the music is a fantastic way to celebrate a loved ones life during their final journey. Having a band lead ahead of the hearse into the crematorium or church grounds adds a real impact on arrival, the band will divert to stand outside the venue and continue to play until the deceased and congregation have entered the crematorium.
The choice of songs is completely up to you (providing they are appropriate for the line up) but here is our standard approach to performing at a funeral.
The Traditional New Orleans Funeral works on two fundamental principals, mourning of the deceased and then a celebration of their life.
The mourning of the deceased is the sending off of a loved one through the medium of song. Slow, spiritual songs such as Just a Closer Walk With Thee and the Old Rugged Cross. The celebration of their usually a life well lived is the point we play upbeat and joyful songs such as When The Saints Go Marching In, Didn’t He Ramble and After You’ve Gone.
